Melvin Leadership Award Winner Announced"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>TORONTO, June 11, 2019 <\/strong>\u2013 The Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (CAILBA) and CANNEX Financial Exchanges Ltd. today announced the winner of the 2019 Alexander S. Melvin Leadership Award &#8211; Tracey Mooney of Vancity Credit Union.<\/p>\n<p>Alex Melvin, who passed away in 2015, was a well-respected industry leader and CANNEX\u2019s co-founder.\u00a0This award is given to inspiring individuals in the financial services and insurance industry who model the characteristics that Alex demonstrated in his life:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Intrinsically genuine, honest and empathetic towards others<\/li>\n<li>Confident, decisive and accountable for the betterment of the industry and with,<\/li>\n<li>Inspiring leadership qualities in the way they communicate to motivate and achieve \u00a0cohesiveness among industry participants<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Mooney is a senior leader in the Treasury division at Vancity, Canada\u2019s largest community credit union by assets. She was presented with the award at the CAILBA National Conference dinner in Victoria, B.C., on June 4 by two of Alex&#8217;s children, daughter, Paige Melvin, and son, Andrew Melvin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTracey is an exceptionally genuine, optimistic, empathetic and effective industry leader, who shares Alex Melvin\u2019s ability to inspire others,\u201d said CAILBA executive director, Clementine Peacock. \u201cShe has played a key role on a range of initiatives that have enhanced industry practices and benefited its customers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mooney has served on several industry boards and committees as well as led the innovation and development of risk-based solutions for the deposit industry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTracey worked closely on industry initiatives with my father, who was a mentor to her,\u201d said Andrew Melvin. \u201cHe would have been delighted to see Tracey recognized for the inspiring way in which she engages with her colleagues in the industry and her volunteerism outside it, as much as her accomplishments.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Read more about the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cannex.com\/index.php\/2016\/06\/08\/chlia-announces-new-alex-melvin-leadership-award\/\" target=\"_blank\">Alexander S.
