TORONTO, April 8, 2026<\/strong> \u2013 Phil Marsillo, CEO of IDC Worldsource Insurance Network, a leading Managing General Agent (MGA), is the winner of the 2026 Alexander S. Melvin Award for Inspirational & Ethical Leadership in Financial Services.<\/p>\n

For the awards\u2019 10th<\/sup> anniversary, Marsillo is being recognized for his significant contributions to the industry through IDC Worldsource Insurance Network, his leadership of industry associations, committees, and initiatives, as well as his role in championing Canadians\u2019 access to financial products and their interests.<\/p>\n

Marsillo has had a long and distinguished career in the Canadian life insurance industry at IDC and Canada Life where he was known as a \u201cpassionate advocate\u201d for the life channel, who earned the respect of colleagues and advisors. He has made significant contributions to the work of the Canadian Life and Health Insurance Association.<\/p>\n

\u201cPhil isn\u2019t someone who seeks recognition or the limelight, but, through his engagement and advocacy, has made the industry better for all,\u201d said Clementine Peacock, executive director, Canadian Association of Independent Life Brokerage Agencies (CAILBA), and member of the Alex Melvin Award committee. \u201cHis commitment to transparency, product safety, and mentorship of industry executives, led the committee to choose him as this years\u2019 award recipient.\u201d<\/p>\n

This year\u2019s award will be presented at the CAILBA National Conference on April 14 in Victoria, B.C. As part of the award, a donation of $5,000 will be made in Phil Marsillo\u2019s name by CANNEX, to Mackenzie Health Foundation \u2013 Cortellucci Vaughan Hospital, a dynamic regional healthcare provider serving a population of more than a half million people across York Region and beyond. CANNEX, \u00a0\u00a0co-founded by Alex Melvin, with its CEO Lowell Aronoff, has underwritten the award since its establishment in 2016.<\/p>\n

\u201cAt a time of significant change in the financial services industry, inspirational and ethical leadership is critically important to navigating through the new economic and technology landscape in ways that are consistent with client interests,\u201d said Andrew Melvin, Alex\u2019s son, and member of the selection committee. \u201cPhil joins a distinguished group of industry leaders, whose success and impact have been based on the values my father embodied and this award celebrates.\u201d<\/p>\n

Past award winners include Terri Botosan, chief executive officer of HUB International Canada; Dennis Craig, vice president, brokerage distribution, MGA and National Accounts at RBC Insurance; Gord Mooney, president emeritus of General Bank of Canada; David Newman, principal director of Fiscal Agents Savings and Investments; and Michael Williams, President and COO, TruStone Financial.<\/p>\n
